Learning Disability and Hyposensitivity

This testimony of a learning disability and hyposensitivity and a boy named Anthony Romeo. It is full of hope for other children who are experiencing similar problems.

Anthony Romeo

Anthony Romeo was 7 years old when we first attended The Family Hope Center. The course was like a breath of fresh air. We were awed by how much Matthew and Carol seemed to know our son, and the difficulties he'd been having. Anthony is a very bright, kind, intelligent little boy, so we couldn't understand why he had such a hard time reading or why he'd have bouts of aggression. At the time, he even had a hard time remembering the sounds of letters. The kindergarten he had previously attended told us that while we was very bright, we'd still need to enroll him in the special needs class. We had always known that there was something "not right," but we were never taken seriously by doctors since Anthony appeared to be completely well.

At the evaluation, Matthew and Carol were able to identify all the issues we had seen, AND more. The course taught us why Anthony was having problems, and the evaluation taught me what to do about it. They gave us well-researched information in all areas of nutrition, motor skills, academia, and socialization. For the first time, we felt empowered again.

It was an incredible feeling! And we left FHC eager to begin. We saw vast improvements in a little over three weeks. We experienced victory as a family, and we grew closer because we knew we were working toward a common goal of getting Anthony well. Anthony grew confident from the hard work and accomplishments he achieved. It felt so good to finally have a formula for success, and to see the fruits of our labor.

Looking back, it's hard to remember that Anthony had a hard time reading, or that he was so sensitive he couldn't wear most clothing, or that he was bouncing off the walls with a very, very poor attention span. Now he is so articulate, compassionate and happy (with appropriate energy levels) that it’s hard to believe he was ever any other way. His love for reading is insatiable too!

It's hard to write, in a few paragraphs, what The Family Hope Center has done for our family. They truly care about each child, AND family member, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually, as well. They showed us a different way, and gave us incredible hope toward Anthony's future!  What a blessing, and delight to have met such a wonderful team!
