teen-calculus-smLearning disabilities disorder is a condition in which a person’s brain does not process information in the normal way. Most children with learning disabilities are not diagnosed until they begin school, mainly because the three basic learning disabilities encompass the basics of education: reading, writing and arithmetic. These three are: dyslexia, trouble reading and writing; dyscalculia, trouble comprehending math; and dysgraphia, trouble forming letters when writing. Other learning disabilities may affect a child’s ability to comprehend and retain what is read, motor and emotional skills, as well as, use and comprehension of language.

Having a learning disability is not an indication of a lack of intelligence. In fact, there is evidence to suggest that some learning disabilities may be genetic. Other learning disabilities may be the result of injuries sustained as a result of an accident or illness. But basically, all learning disabilities stem from a neurological disorganization in the brain.

This injury, or neurological disorganization, can be located anywhere in the cortex, but usually in the frontal and temporal lobes. These injuries are pervasive and prevent the reception and processing of information in a normal fashion. This in turn, results in delayed, inappropriate and inaccurate decisions. It also means that the development of basic language and social skills may be difficult or impossible without proper treatment.

In addition to injuries to the cortex, there may be problems, with varying degrees of severity, to the midbrain area. Since this area of the brain is where we process and integrate sensory information, if it is damaged there will frequently be problems with convergence, depth perception, mobility and coordination.

At The Family Hope Center we employ a therapeutic treatment that is in contrast to conventional treatments. Since information passes thru the midbrain to reach the cortex, it is important than any treatment target the midbrain first. Once the basic organization in the lower levels of the brain has increased, this will then cause the cortex levels of the brain to function more effectively.

Avoiding the use of medication, injections or surgery, our program improves sensory pathways to restore normal development of sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing. It is these sensory pathways that carry information from the midbrain to the cortex. Once these pathways are established, we can then focus on other areas that depend on these pathways, such as mobility, speech, manual dexterity and social skills.

Any therapy developed at The Family Hope Center will be unique and developed based on a thorough evaluation of your child. This comprehensive evaluation addresses all areas that can affect a child, including metabolic, neurological and physical health. We have found that treating the whole child produces better results.

Once a comprehensive evaluation of your child reveals the exact source of their learning disabilities, our staff at The Family Hope Center will devise a therapy program that targets problem areas. We will increase oxygen supply to the brain, make sure that the cranial sacral mechanism is operating properly, and then develop a specially-designed diet. This diet will not only restore gastrointestinal health, but will increase the brain’s neurotransmitter function, plus eradicate allergies and over-sensitivities to toxins. In our experience, children who follow these treatment plans make amazing progress in areas of reading, writing, comprehension, speech, coordination and social interaction.

The major reason for the success of this approach is that the family plays such an important part. The Family Hope Center doesn’t just treat your child for you. Instead we give you the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct the therapies with the intensity and frequency needed to facilitate real improvement in your child. Learning disabilities can be overcome and your child can have a bright future. What we can do for you and your special needs child -  Learning Disabilities >
