What Do We Do for these Children?
In general, however – and in contrast to what often happens in conventional treatment - therapy for these children should target the midbrain first, not the cortex. Proper and intensive stimulation of the midbrain gradually creates and develops new pathways, improves the organization of the lower levels of the brain, and increases crucial hemispheric dominance. In turn, this helps the higher, cortical levels (which receive information from the lower levels) to function more effectively.

In particular, we rigorously address the hearing pathway. We find that many “dyslexic” children misinterpret sounds, which leads to confusion and impaired ability to decode language. To succeed fully, creating hemispheric dominance and treatment of the auditory pathway must both be high priorities.

While addressing the basic neurological issues we also create a specific reading program to fit the child’s individual needs. As the child improves neurologically, however, the child will gradually lose his dependence on these and other specialized strategies.

Finally, and critically, we address the overall metabolic, neurological and physical health of the child in several important ways:

  1. We dramatically increase oxygen delivery to the whole brain. This contributes greatly to the overall health and development of the brain, which both facilitates and accelerates the healing process.
  2. We work to ensure that the cranial sacral mechanism is functionin g up to its maximum potential. Without addressing this important aspect in healing the child, the progress will be much, much slower. For more information about cranial sacral therapy, click here.
  3. Since progress toward wellness depends heavily on an excellent, cleansing diet, we develop individually designed diets to increase neurotransmitter function in the brain, restore gastrointestinal health, and eliminate over-sensitivities to allergens and toxins.

With this comprehensive approach, you can fully expect that your child with dyslexia will show steady progress toward full healing of his or her learning problems.

What is Dyslexia?
‘Dyslexia' is a frustrating neurological problem that can be primarily traced to processing issues in the auditory and visual pathways of the cortex. More

How Can We Help?
We have seen many children with this diagnosis. They can often be healed, not just taught coping strategies. With The Family Hope Center’s help, parents can actually treat their “dyslexic” child’s underlying problems, actually removing the obstacles to learning and to having a full, success in life.
